چکیده

To study the relationship between environmental variables and chlorophyll a of spring algal bloom in Xiangxi Bay of Three Gorges Reservoir, stepwise multiple binomial regression and grey relative analysis methods were adopted. In surveys, 13 stations have been investigated and 143 samples were collected weekly from March 4 to May 13 in 2007. The study shows environmental variables (turbidity, total nitrogen, dissolved oxygen, total phosphates and silicate) are key factors during algal bloom. The grey relative values and their permutation indicated that turbidity was the most important factor and had comprehensive effect on chlorophyll a. The more number of interactive variables is found to be an indication of biochemical activity during spring algal bloom in Xiangxi Bay such as DO×TN, Turb×TP and so on. There was good linear relationship between chlorophyll a and the interaction of DO with TN ( 9192 . 0  R , ).The interaction of nutrients (TP×TN, TP×SiO4, TN×SiO4) had significant influence to chlorophyll a and probably determined the inter-specific competition at different nutrient concentrations. 0001 . 0  P

Support Vector Regression Model of Chlorophyll-a during Spring Algal Bloom in Xiangxi Bay of Three Gorges Reservoir, China

To study the relationship between chlorophyll-a and environmental variables during spring algal bloom in Xiangxi Bay of Three Gorges Reservoir, the support vector regression (SVR) model was established. In surveys, 11 stations have been investigated and 264 samples were collected weekly from March 4 to May 13 in 2007 and February 16 to May 10 in 2008. The parameters in SVR model were optimized ...

Longitudinal Hydrodynamic Characteristics in Reservoir Tributary Embayments and Effects on Algal Blooms

Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR) is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. Since the impoundment in 2003, however, algal blooms have been often observed in the tributary embayments. To control the algal blooms, a thorough understanding of the hydrodynamics (e.g., flow regime, velocity gradient, and velocity magnitude and direction) in the tributary embayments is particularly important. Usi...

Phytoplankton development and ecological status during a cyanobacterial bloom in a tributary bay of the Three Gorges Reservoir, China.

Reservoirs can provide suitable conditions for cyanobacterial bloom development, which may impact on water quality and biological communities. Weekly surveys in a cyanobacterial bloom process were carried out in the mainstream and Xiangxi Bay of the Three Gorges Reservoir (China), from June 6 to July 18 in 2008. By application of the phytoplankton functional group approach, the spatiotemporal p...

Temporal variation of methane flux from Xiangxi Bay of the Three Gorges Reservoir

Three diel field campaigns and one monthly sampling campaign during June 2010-May 2011 were carried out to investigate the CH4 flux across the water-gas interface in Xiangxi Bay of the Three Gorges Reservoir, China. The average CH4 flux was much less than that reported from reservoirs in tropic and temperate regions. The photosynthesis of phytoplankton dominated the diel gas fluxes during alga ...

Temporal Asynchrony of Trophic Status Between Mainstream and Tributary Bay Within a Giant Dendritic Reservoir: The Role of Local-Scale Regulators

Limnologists have regarded temporal coherence (synchrony) as a powerful tool for identifying the relative importance of local-scale regulators and regional climatic drivers on lake ecosystems. Limnological studies on Asian reservoirs have emphasized that climate and hydrology under the influences of monsoon are dominant factors regulating seasonal patterns of lake trophic status; yet, little is...
